How the Right Financing Partner Helped Us Grow Financing Utilization from 30% to 50%

At New Bath Today, we believe every home should adapt to the people living in it, not the other way around. Our fast, 1-to-2-day bathroom remodels bring safety and independence within reach, with white-glove, personalized service at every step. We’ve grown to nearly 500 employees across 20 states, but the “how” of that growth has been just as important as the “why.” A big part of that story is financing.

Three years ago, financing wasn’t something we could brag about. Now, we’ve done a full 180.

The problem: financing was the bottleneck, not the accelerator

Before we partnered with One Click Contractor, we didn’t have anything close to a real financing waterfall. If a customer’s credit was declined by one lender, our sales rep had to manually re-run their information with a secondary lender, which meant asking a customer for their Social Security number and driver’s license again. Sometimes more than once, depending on how many lenders it took to get an approval.

Multiply that friction across states with different lending regulations, and the problems compounded. We were managing lender relationships through shared folders and a steady stream of phone calls. As we grew into a larger company, we had more opportunities, but also more risk. Every additional application, every extra minute in the home, was a chance to lose the sale. And closing rates drop the longer a sales rep is sitting in a customer’s living room.

We needed a partner who understood exactly what our reps were up against.

Finding One Click Contractor: A partner who understood our business

Our VP of Consumer Finance, Frank Watz, first met Justin Hatcher three years ago. Justin, now One Click Contractor’s Chief Customer Officer, was building 1LOOK® Financing at the time. Today, 1LOOK® Financing is One Click Contractor’s financing platform. That first connection started a relationship that’s now three years strong.

What made 1LOOK® Financing different from the start wasn’t just the technology. It was that Justin came at the problem from the home improvement side, not just the fintech side. He understood what it actually feels like for a sales rep trying to qualify a customer in real time, in someone’s home, under pressure. That perspective shaped the platform.

About two years into the relationship, 1LOOK® Financing became part of One Click Contractor, the platform we already used for our contract write-ups, bringing financing and contracts together under one roof. Today, the two are fully integrated: our reps can move a customer from estimate, to contract, to financing offer, without leaving the platform or re-entering information. It’s the best of both worlds, meshed together.

What 1LOOK® Financing actually solved for us

The core of it is a lender stack built on a single soft credit pull. Instead of our reps manually shopping a declined application to a second or third lender, and asking customers to hand over sensitive information again and again, 1LOOK® Financing runs that waterfall automatically. And because lending regulations vary so much by state, the platform configures different lender stacks for different states, so we’re never stuck trying to force a one-size-fits-all process onto 20 different regulatory environments.

The impact on our numbers has been significant:

  • Financing utilization has grown from 30% to roughly 50% of our total sales from when we first began working with the One Click Contractor team.
  • The full financing process now takes about a third of the time it used to, especially for credit-challenged customers who previously required multiple rounds of applications.
  • We’ve never had the system go down on us. For a process this central to closing a sale, that reliability matters as much as the speed.
  • Roughly half of our finance deals now use 12-month same-as-cash options, a preference we’re seeing especially among customers who’d rather keep their capital invested elsewhere, earning market returns, than pay cash up front.
  • We’re also seeing the generational shift their team has flagged industry-wide: roughly 70% of homeowners under 40 prefer financing over cash or card, and having a fast, seamless experience matters more to that customer than ever.

A partnership that goes beyond the platform

What’s kept us with One Click Contractor isn’t just the platform — it’s how the relationship works day to day. We have weekly meetings with Frank and the One Click Contractor team to dig into the numbers: where credit declines are happening, which states need attention (we’ve had real conversations about a 40% decline rate in parts of Texas, for example), and what we can do about it. These aren’t check-the-box calls — they’re honest, consultative, and sometimes uncomfortable in a good way. Justin is genuinely reachable by phone or text, nights and weekends included, when something urgent comes up.

That combination — strong technology and a partner who treats our growth as their job too — is rare in this industry.

Our take

In Frank’s words: “Their concept is exactly what we were looking for in a financing partner. It’s a game changer. If you are not doing this now, and you want to grow your business, if you want to give your sales reps something they can learn and trust, use this platform.”

Three years in, financing has gone from our biggest operational headache to one of our clearest advantages. We’re proud to call One Click Contractor a partner, not just a vendor, and we’re looking forward to where the next few years take us!
